Farewell

Today I found in one of my news readers the message, that the Deutsche Post abandon Second Life and quit their engagment in the virtual world. But the company sees their time in Second Life as a success, as they pronounced on their campaign website secondlife.deutschepost.de. All the acitivies seemed to have an experimental character, but the pursued ojectives were achieved: for example to learn how to communicate a brand in such a game. Their website says, that they want start new campaigns as soon as the time is right.

The Deutsche Post had one of the most interesting marketing campaigns in Second Life, where you could make snapshots in the 3D-world and let the Deutsche Post send the image as a real world postcard to a real world address. I allways like the idea of connecting the virtual with the real world. I’m excited what the right time is for the Deutsche Post, to return.
